To create a safeguarded, fenced, grassed play area for pupils directly behind Westminster Primary Academy. The 32m x 23m (approx.) rectangular plot is currently an unmaintained and overgrown portion of public open space at the school end of Claremont Park, with one 32m side of the fenced plot runningalongside the existing car park. FCAT seek to make improvements to this 736 sq.metres (approx.) space by levelling it where necessary, grass-seeding and regular grounds maintenance as appropriate. The children who attend the school currently have no safeguarded, fenced grassed area to play on duringunstructured and structured times of the day. A gated access would be made within the existing 2.4m high green mesh fence that provides pupil and grounds staff access into the proposed space at the same time that a new 55m (approx.) 2.4m high green mesh fence is constructed around the two sides of the plot.FCAT do not seek to build on this space, or to remove any trees. FCAT propose to make environmental and recreational improvements to the space which will benefit the children of the school. FCAT have been made aware that Blackpool Council has had to make savings in its Parks/Grounds Maintenance budget,resulting in the school end of Claremont Park now being unmaintained and extremely untidy. FCAT will be able to add the 736 sq.metres to its own Ground Maintenance programme. FCAT has also offered to flail-mow all the presently unmaintained ground at this location as a one-off gesture before the end of thisgrowing season, should it be granted permission to take over this 32m x 23m plot of public open space. FCAT relinquishes its right to have this land transferred to Westminster Primary Academy under the Academies Act.
